People usually say not to bring work home with you - luckily this is something we don’t have to worry about - this was our sushi platter for dinner the other night :D
Don’t forget we’re always just a phone call away for those private orders or catering needs!

February, the month of love (not that every month shouldn’t be, just more of an excuse to be overly romantic!) is coming to a close so make these yummy heart shaped rolls while you still can!
All you need is some rice paper (from any good asian supermarket) and a juicy beetroot. Slice the beetroot up and pop it in a shallow bowl with some water (the water should go bright pink as soon as you mix it around a bit) - enough to soak your sheet of rice paper (soak them one at a time). Cover your bamboo mat with some clingfilm/clingwrap and lay the rice paper down, spread your sushi rice as normal and lay up your filling (we used some yellowtail, avo and cucumber). Roll it all up, use the mat to push the roll down on one side to create a teardrop shaped roll and then slice - pair them up for hearts!
HZ will be at the City Bowl Market on Hope this Saturday! Come down and visit us for some of our lovely fresh sushi including this weekends Christmas inspired selection!
We will be off for the Christmas and New Years weekends but you can always contact us via email (hamachizushi@gmail.com) for private orders and catering.
A happy festive season to all!!

We had an awesome albeit hectic day today at the Fringe Handmade: Creative Goods market, especially seeing as we had to deal with immense winds this morning. Luckily we were located in one of the Bedouin tents which kept us reasonably sheltered.
Once we were settled in, rolling commenced and we were soon catering for a steady stream of customers - clearing our table a couple of times and having to ask people to come back in 10 while we restocked!
An enjoyable and busy day was had, with some lovely neighbours - coffee guys from local cafe “field office” also located in Fringe District, Silly Rabbit by Zayaan Majiet doing gorgeous icing laden cupcakes and a yummy lemonade stand!
Thanks to all those who stopped by, hopefully see you there again next month!

Phew
Our first day at the Village Market done - and happy to say that it went well! Initially we were set to start next week, but as you know, plans always change and soon things were set in motion for launch this weekend! After a few hectic days nipping around cape town in our little hire car, we gathered all our goods and then started folding! Folding? The packaging we decided on was a paper origami tea plate (that I can now fold with my eyes closed).
This morning saw us overcome a few rice related teething problems but we were soon up and rolling :D
Today’s menu was quite a selection, using fresh tuna, yellowtail and kabbeljou:
- Omelettes stuffed with shiitake & carrot sushi rice (v)
- Deep fried tofu pouches stuffed with shiitake & carrot sushi (v)
- Yellowtail/Tuna maki
- Yellowtail & Tuna rainbow rolls
- Kabbeljou/Tuna nigiri
- Tuna sushi balls
- Prawn rainbow rolls
(fish selection dependant on what comes off the boats, you won’t be able to find any fresher!)
Drop by next weekend and see what sushi delights we have to offer! Also, keep an eye on our facebook page (www.facebook.com/HamachiZushi) - we’ll be updating it regularly with what we’ve been experimenting with and what you can expect at the market each week!
Looking forward to seeing you there!
